PAYGOV is the Government of the Virgin Islands’ Payment Portal and Gateway service that will be used to enable residents of the Virgin Islands to pay for government services online. Protection of personal data and responsible handling of information are very important to us. This Privacy Policy Statement (“Privacy Statement”) applies to the PAYGOV site(s) and governs data collection and usage. By providing your personal data using this service, you agree to the processing of your data as set out in this Privacy Statement and confirm that you consent to the data practices described in this Privacy Statement. Further, you confirm that any data you provide using this service is accurate.

 

Collection of your Personal Information

PAYGOV collects personally identifiable information, such as your e-mail address, name, home or work address and telephone number; however this does not happen automatically.


If you choose to provide us with your personal information, like names or email addresses, when you visit PAYGOV, we use it only to:

  • create  an account that can be used to personalize your experience on the site(s) and what you see,
  • enable the processing of payments 
  • deliver the services you have requested
  • allow you to track your payment history in accordance with the Data Protection Act, 2021.

We do not store your credit card information, but do transmit it to the service providers and other third party services that we use to support our business.  These third party service providers who are bound by contract and industry protocols to keep personal information confidential, secure, and to use it only for the purpose for which we have disclosed it to them.

 

This data will not be passed on to third parties without your expressed consent.  The processing of your personal data in relation to making payments is based on your consent. You have the right to revoke your consent at any time prior to the final submission point, after which your transaction will be submitted for review and processing. PAYGOV, and its affiliated third party service providers, will retain your personal data for no longer that it is necessary for the purposes stated in this Privacy Statement.

 

PAYGOV does not use or disclose sensitive personal information, such as race, religion, or political affiliations, without your explicit consent.


We do not sell or share any personally identifiable information volunteered on this site to any third party (public/private). We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that any information provided to this website will be protected from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure, alteration, or destruction.


We gather certain information about the user, such as Internet protocol (IP) address, domain name, browser type, operating system, the date and time of the visit and the pages visited, and if you reached this website from another website, the address of that referring website.

 

Information pertaining to a user’s browsing history, types of searches completed and interactions with our websites is also collected through cookies and Google Analytics to aid in improving the user’s experience on the site(s).


We make no attempt to link the data collected with the identity of individuals visiting our site unless an attempt to damage the site has been detected.

 

The Data Protection Act, 2021

 

The Government is your data controller. As your data controller, the Government will collect and process in accordance with the Data Protection Act, 2021. The Government shall take all reasonable steps to ensure that all personal data is destroyed or permanently deleted if it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was to be processed.

PAYGOV secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure.

PAYGOV secures the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted for payment processing, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.

The Government of the Virgin Islands will occasionally update this Privacy Statement to reflect the feedback from the organization and customers. When we make changes to this Privacy Statement, we will post the updated notice on this website and update the date on which this Privacy Statement was modified. You are responsible for periodically reviewing this website and this Privacy Statement to check for any updates or changes to be informed of how PAYGOV is protecting your information.
